Free training on therapeutic Cannabis for healthcare professionals

Des formations gratuites sur le Cannabis thérapeutique pour les professionnels de santé

The Academy of Medical Cannabis provides free training for British healthcare professionals. The institution has decided to export this concept to France to provide education and information on the molecule.

Educating doctors and demystifying cannabis.

Since November 1, 2018, medical cannabis has been legal in the United Kingdom. A major step forward that delights many supporters, but in practice, it remains largely inaccessible. There's a reason for this: despite its popularity among consumers, doctors are hesitant or even firmly opposed to prescribing it. This is due to a lack of information and a reluctance to commit their name, profession, and personal responsibility more generally.

This is precisely why the Academy of Medical Cannabis was created. Its goal? To provide learning sessions segmented into different modules for healthcare professionals in the UK and also in France. Completely digitized, the content is available via an e-learning platform.

Seeking to overcome the obstacles generated by inertia in the development of medical cannabis, the institution positions itself as a key player and targets all doctors and other practitioners in the profession. Its slogan is also unambiguous: "Educating doctors for a healthier world."

Doctors' duty to inform about cannabis.

To date, the Academy estimates that nearly a million Britons could benefit from medical cannabis. The potential is significant but remains untapped due to reservations expressed by the various healthcare professionals who would be expected to prescribe it. A situation deplored by the Academy and one it intends to remedy.

Healthcare professionals should discuss cannabis with their patients when relevant. And this is precisely why the organization was created: to provide the necessary understanding to approach the diagnosis and treatment of patients holistically: "If you are a doctor, you have a duty to understand how cannabis works as a medicine. A change in legislation around medical cannabis will lead to an increase in the number of patients (
) and to inquire about how it works."

The platform offers a dozen interactive modules with animations and quizzes lasting a few minutes. The content was developed by Professor Mike Barnes and Dr. Edmund, both specialists in neurological rehabilitation and European experts in medical cannabis.
